What is Healthy Eating?
Healthy eating is the making sure that the food you eat is good for your body.
Eating a balanced diet is a way to stay healthy.
A balanced diet is:
- Eating the right amounts of certain foods.
- Not eating too much bad food.
- Drinking enough.
- Cooking food properly

Eat Most: Bread, Cereal, Rice, Pasta
Eat Regularly: Vegetables and Fruit
Eat in Moderation: Milk, Yogurt, Cheese, Meat, Poultry, Fish, Eggs, Nuts
Eat Least: Fats, Oils, Sweets, Salt, Butter, Energy drinks, Chocolate
A dietician can help you decide on a diet that is healthy and also fun to eat.
Drink Enough Water
Drinking water keeps your kidneys working properly.
- Your kidneys need about 2 litres (8 glasses) of fluid every day.
- On hot days more fluid is needed.
- Alcohol and Coffee don't count as the 2 litres.
- Coffee, Colas and soft drinks contain caffiene which make you thirsty.
