What are Holidays?
Holidays are when you spend leisure time away from home.
You can choose different places to go on holiday.
Some places can be very expensive to visit.
There are also holidays designed for people who have a disability.
Holiday Seasons
There are good times of year to go on holiday.
Some people are taken on holiday 'out of season' because it is cheaper.
'Out of season' could be going to the seaside in winter.
In Britain Summer is in June, July, August, it is warmer in summer.
You should be able to choose when you go on holiday.
Respite Centres
There are holiday centres for people who have a disability.
These are sometimes called Respite care centres.
Holiday Centres offer activities for people on holiday.
Activities offered by centres can include:
arts, music, sports, relaxing, adventure activities, shopping, tourist visits
There are also centres like Butlins that have holidays.
You can find out about holiday centres at your local Disability Resource Centre.
Going Overseas
Some people go to another country on holiday.
Going overseas is expensive.
There are package holidays which include flights, a place to stay and food.
Someone could help you to arrange an overseas holiday.
Some places have information for people with disabilities.
In some countries the weather is different to Britain.
To go overseas you may need a passport.
A travel agent might be able to help you get more information.

Going on holiday should be your choice.

- You should be able to choose when you go.
- You should be able to choose where you go
(if you can afford to go there). - Some countries have different seasons to Britain ask what the weather will be like
