Relationships is the word used to describe how you get on with other people.
There are different types of relationships... friends, workmates, family, and lovers.
Relationships with people you like can be relaxing and fun.
Relationships can also be stressful and sometimes people argue.
Making Relationships
There are a lot of different ways to build a relationship.
- You can meet new people that you enjoy being with.
- You can become friends with people you have known for a while.
- You can meet people over the Internet or through pen pals.
- You can become friends with people at college, school or work.
Spending time with people you like can make people very happy.
Relationships can be about sharing problems and talking about things.
Arguing with friends
People in relationships sometimes argue.
Friends know each other well and can hurt each other.
Often arguments happen because people like each other but feel upset.
There are people who can help when friends argue.
Who helps depends on who you are arguing with.

Sometimes when you argue you'll need someone else to help sort it out.

When you argue with someone at work
- Your boss or another work colleague might be able to help.
- If it is serious someone called a mediator might help.
When you argue with a friend
- Another friend might be able to help.
- Sometimes a key worker can help.
When you argue with a partner (husband, wife, girlfriend, boy friend)
- There are counsellors who can help.
- Sometimes a key worker can help.
- Sometimes an advocate might be able to help.
