Rights
What are Rights?
Rights describe the way people should be treated and what they are allowed to do.
Every person has rights.
It doesn't make a difference what race, religion, or sex you are, you have rights.
Some Rights are called laws and are written by the Government.
When someone denies another person their Rights they could be breaking the law.
What are your Rights?
People who have a learning difficulty have the same Rights as any other person.
There is a law that ensures people who have a disability have equal rights.
The law is called the Disability Discrimination Act.
There is also a group called the Disability Rights Commission who help the Government.
Some Basic Rights
There are some basic human rights...
- Right to a place to live
- Right to food and drink
- Right to health care
- Right to education
- Right to be treated equally
- Right to work
- Right to be safe from violence
- Right to make choices
